That is the Question my internet marketing friends.
Google Adsense is one of the most popular ways of monetizing your blog or website. This is because it is an easy to set up , cut and paste affair almost anyone with a page on the Internet can use for making money online.
Adsense might not be the best thing for everyone though, you see, Adsense takes those hard-earned visitors (your traffic) away from your site when the visitor clicks on an ad.
Of course, you are in control of your website so it’s up to you to decide what you want to do about your traffic, but in my experience, most people want to make money online and in that case, there are better and more profitable alternatives to Adsense for Internet Marketers.
1. Build A List
You have heard it before and I’ll say it again, build a list.
One of the most famous sayings in internet marketing is “The Money is in the list” and if you think about it this saying is not far from the truth.
There is plenty of money to be made from your own list – one you have built from scratch by the simple act of giving something away for free and making your readers or visitors give you their email address and permission to write to them in exchange (The law of reciprocity).
There are a few reasons why this is far better than Adsense:
* You are not sending your traffic you worked very hard to get off to another website.
* The group of people who gave you their email address trust you and like what you have to offer, this makes them more likely to buy from you.
* You have an interested and hungry audience ready to buy your products and services.
Once you have your list all you need to do is to send a series of emails introducing them to whatever it is you are selling. The Traffic is yours and the money is yours to keep.
2. Affiliate Banners And Links
You might argue that it takes time to build a list and that you can’t go hungry until it starts raking in the money – (I don’t buy this argument as most people build websites or blog part time to begin with, however it is a common argument so I will address it).
If you have to have ads on your website, why not place ads that may bring you a larger amount of money and lead to someone else’s website (just like the Google Adsense Ads) or at least allow you to keep the visitor by opening the ad in another window?
Instead of displaying Adsense code, put up affiliate banners and links which will lead to merchants you will recieve affiliate commissions from.
This way, even when your visitors leave your site, they are going somewhere that makes you money through an Affiliate Program and if done correctly will be something relevant to your site. i.e don’t display affiliate programs on how to make money from blogging on a Real Estate Website….your visitors will be annoyed at you for the lack of relevant content on your site.
3. Link Brokers
Another alternative for Google Adsense, being just as easy as using it – is to deal with link brokers.
Link brokers, like Text-Link-Ads and Linkworth, sell space on your blog for a client’s link.
You are paid a fixed amount of money as long as the link in question is displayed. This method earns plenty of money for a blog or a site that experiences a respectable amount of traffic.
The main reason why Adsense isn’t good for some Internet Marketers is that adsense is a Short-Term money making strategy and since it takes a lot of consistent effort to bring in traffic it does not make sense to just send it away again.
